Have you been putting off getting to closets and other small spaces that need your attention? Getting motivated to do chores is the hardest part. There are so many projects in your mind but you just don’t know where to start. Do you have a list? You should – so that you can keep track of things to do and check them off once their done. Here’s my personal To-Do list:
- Kitchen: touch up paint on cabinets; purchase small storage cabinet; change window curtains.
- Family room: re-organize drawers in TV cabinet (not much to do in this space because it contains very few items).
- Dining Room/Office: re-organize desk drawers. I recently purchased a cabinet and 4 small storage containers to put papers in such as bills, to do, file and shred (see below). That will keep papers off the dining room table that I like to use solely for, well, dining. So far it’s working very well.
- Closets: In the Spring, empty containers containing spring and summer clothing. Remove fall and winter items from closet and place in same containers. Then arrange spring and summer items in closet. In the Fall, reverse the task. Do the same for bed linens. Of course, wash everything before storing away. While you’re at it, why not donate those items you haven’t worn or used in 2 or 3 seasons. Someone else will appreciate them.
Bathroom: Get rid of old toiletries, expired medicine bottles, almost empty and expired cleaning and hair products, etc., etc., etc.
Office: Control paper clutter. Store paper in these decorative boxes until you’re ready to file.
